Amy Walsh's Project Statement This is a collection of creative starting points for something new. I have begun a new relationship with a small, neglected river in my city: the Mosshahuck. I am far from understanding where these starting practices will lead; but I do hope it’s toward an integration of my studio practice (of sculpting, drawing, collage and photography) with collaborative and community-based experiments in service of this beautiful body of water which flows right near my studio under a canopy of invasive trees and clogged with plastic bottles.
Amy Walsh's Artist Statement Many of my sculptures, drawings and installations transform fragments and scraps of ordinary materials into miniature visions of decaying and regenerating worlds. From the intimate to the grand scale, the work is a slow meditation on ongoing environmental and economic collapse through a loose structure of architecture; and an expression of intimate human and ecosystemic creativity, resilience, and spirit.
