Ashley Hollan is an intermedia storyteller and attorney based in the southern United States whose creative work illuminates hidden histories and explores the intersections of art, law, philosophy and ecology. Drawing on supernatural interventions and environmental explorations, Ashley’s audiovisual spellwork conjures questions and delivers artistic arguments to inspire awareness through her meditative, process-driven practice. Using light, sound, color and movement, her art creates immersive atmospheres and songlike stories that spark conversation and awareness, advocating for causes, creatures, and spirit realms. Ashley’s art has been included in juried exhibitions, shows, records and residencies throughout the United States and she was recently a finalist for the role of Poet Laureate of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University in Public Policy and Visual Art/Art History, a Juris Doctor from the University of Denver, a Master of Arts in Critical Studies and a Master of Arts in Visual Studies at Pacific Northwest College of Art and she is the Founder of Make/Believe Law LLC.
