Off-Times: ​TAAS Newspaper Issue 2

There is a temptation to believe that knowledge arrives fully formed—that history is fixed, archives are complete, and truth is something uncovered rather than assembled. This issue resists that certainty.
Each issue of Off-Times is an experiment in proximity, bringing together voices that might never otherwise occupy the same page. Rather than asking contributors to arrive at a single conclusion, we invite them to think beside one another. Unexpected relationships emerge. An essay begins to echo a poem. A speculative archive reframes an obituary. A dream offers another way of reading history.
The newspaper becomes its own kind of bridge.
Across these pages, artists return to places where meaning remains unsettled: dreams, folklore, forgotten histories, feminist practices, speculative archives, ancient objects, lucid conversations, and impossible bridges. Together they remind us that imagination is not the opposite of knowledge, but one of its oldest technologies.
As this issue finds its way into galleries, bookstores, museums, studios, libraries, and kitchens around the world, I hope these pages continue to change through the conversations they provoke. Like all good bridges, they are only complete once someone chooses to cross them.

Art & Language

In this exhibition, we bring together attending artists from Art & Language, a 5-Month Independent Study course with Amber Imrie. This exhibition stands as an opportunity for our participating artists to share their process, texts, and creative investigations as they build upon their art practices & how that engages with language. Thank you to our incredible collective of participating artists, Debra Scacco, Colette Copeland, LUSMERLIN, Elizabeth Burden, Julie Abijanac, Kathryn Eddy, Laura Miller, Tara Foley, and Kimberley White.

The Tip of A Silent Tongue

"The Tip of A Silent Tongue" is an exhibition that takes place in the dark and demands from the viewer a sensory and bodily engagement.
The show is the result of four months of exchange and dialogue between artists and curator in the course The Exhibition To Come. Without knowing each other beforehand, the group developed a collaborative process based on shared references, writing and production exercises, individual and collective meetings, until converging on the theme that guides this exhibition.
