Juliana's Project Statement: I have begun a new artistic investigation incorporating my interest for objects of the past with a need to redefine my relationship to tradition. I have taken to objects that begin to interrelate through various characteristics with these, I have decided to reproduce or reinvent the practice of using a delicate doily to cover and protect a heavy, strong surface.

Juliana Rojas Toledo is an artist born in Bogotá, Colombia. Formally educated as a photographer, her work focuses on family and personal narratives. Juliana creates and performs images and moments through a variety of media. Between memories and anecdotes of childhood, she creates conversations about identity and memory, popular traditions, symbols and color as a representation of a moment lived or not lived. Juliana started doing photos at home, without any intention of selling them, inspired by the vintage aesthetic of food advertising. The images were composed from a child's mindset, relating objects with words or other symbols that have no formal relationship to each other.
