Process Statement: I follow my instinct to make with fiber, with the body, or absent body, and with the environment as backdrop and collaborator. Using found objects and new technical processes I seek spaces that support other makers and community to collectively experiment and explore. Pulling from my work in theatre [designing sets and costumes] I start with my own body- wearing or inhabiting garment/objects and imagine how they might be used in future performances, installations, or site. Where does character or narrative emerge? Trompe L’oeile, camouflage, imitation, have become a playful way to merge with environments and/or disappear. I hope to question our ability to use surface as a point of connection and exchange and challenge my own anxieties about making with materials in the natural world. The documentation here is part of sketching or storyboarding. I use video to capture my impulse to see what happens and where I loose control.
