I began mind mapping to understand the importance of my peripheral interests in relation to my artwork.

This map envisions my artistic practice as a simple machine like a stereoscopic viewmaster; used for viewing a pair of separate images as a single three-dimensional image.

This illustrates how I generate ideas by overlapping concepts and interests similar to double exposures.

This Concept sketch was inspired by combining the Myth of Atlas holding up the world, and an octopus guarding her eggs. Many species of female octopus die as a result of watching over their eggs until they hatch.

Danielle Schlunegger-Warner's Artist Statement:
My work examines the tension between natural systems and colonial history through sculpture, dioramas, and museum style installations. I am influenced by curiosity, empathy, exploration, interactivity and natural history. How things evolve, break down, and change over deep time fascinates me.
